In this photo, Abbas is seen with a rather depreciated camera conveying, in my opinion, this message that camera is a tool to enflame personal concerns when confronted with society, politics, etc. which is of the utmost importance is that is it you utilizing the camera or the camera enslaving you?

Years should have passed that I came to this understanding that tools are of minimal role in storytelling. It is my ideology and vision that depict my road map. Abbas and the likes are proper examples of this way of thinking. Abbas dedicated his life living photography not for grants and awards, but for eternalizing the history not himself. He was a lifelong role model not only for Iranian photography but also for the world photography.

در این عکس عباس عطار با دوربینی بظاهر مستهلک دیده می شود که به زعم من حاوی این پیام است که،  دوربین وسیله ای برای ثبت دغدغه های شخصی در مواجهه با اجتماع ، سیاست ، مذهب و… است . مهم اینست که آیا شما از ابزار استفاده میکنید و یا ابزار از شما بهره میبرد!  برای من سالیان زیادی گذشت که به این درک برسم که ابزار نقشی بسیار اندک در داستان سرایی دارد و این تفکر و ایدئولوژی من هست که نقشه راهم می شود. عباس عطارها الگوهایی خوب برای این طرز تفکر هستند. عباس یک عمر عکاسی را زندگی کرد نه برای جوایز و گرنت ها … بلکه یک عمر دکمه شاتر دوربینش را برای جاودانگی تاریخ فشرد نه برای جاودانگی خودش و یک عمر الگو بود نه برای عکاسی ایران بلکه برای جهان
