In Iran, over 70 self-defense clubs offer training, with nearly half of them catering to women’s needs. However, it is noteworthy that the majority of the best self-defense trainers are male. The prevailing laws in the Islamic Republic of Iran forbid men from instructing women, leading some women to pursue more advanced training by choosing to be trained by male instructors in non-official settings, as opposed to legal clubs.
