The Distance Between Us

2020

In the last days of July 2020, the city of Tehran and various other cities in Iran experienced a surge in Coronavirus cases. In response, the Iranian government made the decision to reinstate social restrictions as a measure to prevent further outbreaks.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the competitions and training of Iran’s two women’s hockey teams continued to take place. The sole venue for these events was the Iran Mall Rink, the only ice hockey rink in the entire country. Despite the prevailing circumstances, the athletes and teams persisted in their passion for the sport, showcasing resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
